ONLINE POST-BACC LEVELING PROGRAM IN SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY
Prepare for a Career in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
Starting in Fall 2025, the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences will offer in-person and online Post-Bacc course sequence options for individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree in another field and need to fulfill prerequisite SLP Professional coursework (a.k.a upper division undergraduate leveling courses) to apply for a graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). Our online leveling courses align with the standard prerequisites required for most graduate SLP and Audiology programs. The following courses will be available online with customized advising based on your unique needs:
- SPLP 2313 – General Phonetics
- SPLP 2320 – Hearing Science
- SPLP 3310 – Language Development
- SPLP 3312 – Anatomy & Physiology of the Speech Mechanism
- SPLP 3313 – Disorders of Articulation & Phonology
- SPLP 3314 – Language Disorders in Preschool Children
- SPLP 3318 – Principles of Clinical Management
- SPLP 4309 – Audiology
- SPLP 4310 – Aural Rehabilitation
- SPLP 4311 – Fundamentals of Speech Science
- SPLP 4312 – Neural Bases of Speech & Language
Note: This program does not ensure admission for ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology program, nor meet all Texas State Licensure, or national eligibility requirements. In addition to the course work offered through this program, students must also complete ASHA-required pre-professional courses in statistics, biology, physics or chemistry, and two behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology), along with compliance and background checks in order to be eligible for certification and licensure upon graduation with a full Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. University-guided observation hours and direct clinical experience for SLPAs are not included in this certificate program.

Students interested in pursuing the post-bacc program should apply to ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ as an Undergraduate “Non Degree Seeking” via or through the Graduate School /graduate/apply-now/apply-now.html. Choose "Health Sciences" and then "Non-Degree/Health Sciences" and select the semester you wish to begin.
