ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Breaks Spring Enrollment Record with Nearly 25,000 Students
University sees strong growth across undergraduate and graduate programs
EL PASO, Texas (Feb. 11, 2026) – The University of Texas at El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ enrolled 24,901 students for the Spring 2026 semester – the highest spring enrollment in the University's history and a 4.4% increase over Spring 2025.
Credit hours are also up 5.2%, signaling strong course participation and persistence as the semester begins.
“ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s growth this spring shows that students and families see the value of a ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ education and are persisting to get that degree,” said Heather Wilson, president of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. “Education is the best path to a better life.”
Undergraduate enrollment increased 5.1% overall, building on the University’s recent gains in fall 2025. New master’s enrollment is up 6.0%, underscoring sustained interest in advanced study.
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ also saw growth in new transfer students with enrollment up 3.1% compared to last spring.
“We are so proud that students are choosing ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ in greater numbers. We know that college degrees are important to many career opportunities and are pleased that so many students trust the quality of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ degrees,” said Amanda Vasquez-Vicario, Ph.D., vice president for enrollment management. “Much of this spring’s record is due to high levels of student persistence, which is supported by our dedicated campus teams.”
Several colleges posted especially strong gains year over year. The College of Nursing now enrolls 2,650 students, up 12.6% from Spring 2025, while the College of Health Sciences reached 2,040 students, an increase of 9.6%. This growth aligns with regional and national demand for healthcare professionals and highlights ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s role in preparing the workforce of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ del Norte region.
Vasquez-Vicario noted that the focus remains on student success – retention, timely progress to degree and strong career outcomes. “We're committed to ensuring that every student who chooses ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ has the support and resources they need to thrive academically and professionally.”
