Jorge A. Rodriguez
Jorge Rodriguez is the Emergency Management Coordinator for the El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ City & County Office of Emergency Management and serves as the Assistant Chief of Emergency Management and Special Operations for the El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Fire Department. Chief Rodriguez is a member of the FEMA Region VI Regional Advisory Committee, and the U.S. Co-Leader for the Texas/New Mexico/Chihuahua Emergency Response Task Force.
He holds both a Master of Public Administration with a focus on Leadership and a BA in Political Science with a focus on Intelligence and National Security from the University of Texas at El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ (ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½). He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s National Preparedness Leadership Initiative Executive Education Program.
In 2019, El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ OEM was designated as the lead coordinating agency for the cross-sector response to the largest migrant influx to impact a community along the entire southwest border. For the August 3rd mass shooting, OEM led the emergency management response with Chief Rodriguez serving as the recovery officer for El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½’s recovery and resiliency framework. For COVID-19 pandemic, he continues to oversee all El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ City-County emergency operations center missions and coordinating state and federal support.
