April 2026 - Our PhD students Deepali and Mohammad presented their research work on LNP-based cystic fibrosis therapeutics and sepsis therapeutics respectively at the Medical Centers of America Biotech Showcase 2026; Deepali was also selected for a 5-minute pitch presentation!
Spring Lab Outing
April 2026 - We went to dinner as our spring lab outing and celebration party for our PhD candidate Deepali's successful proposal defense and our MS graduate Hannia's successful MS defense.
MS BME Thesis Defense
April 2026 - Our MS BME student Hannia Balcorta successfully defended her thesis - "Simultaneous Carrier, Cargo, and Functional Tracking of Lipid Nanoparticles" with Drs. Michael, Natividad-Diaz, and Wilhelm as committee members.

Attendance at 2026 UT System Trauma Research Symposium
February 2026 - Dr. Poon and Jael Chavez (along with our collaborators at the Michael Lab) attended the 2026 UT System Trauma Research Symposium in Austin. Jael presented his research poster on high-throughput screening of immunomodulatory LNPs for sepsis treatment.
