Dear Dr. Moya:
The Junior League of El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ launched its newest community project, The Village , in September 2021. The Village mission is to stress the importance of mental wellness by starting basic conversations about self-care; our message is simple but critical, good mental health and good overall health are inextricably linked: you cannot have one without the other. Since October 2021, we have delivered mobile respite and mental health resources to a variety of populations including, Homeless Women, Adolescents Under Stress, Young, Enlisted Military Families, The General Public, Victims of Sexual & Family Violence, The Working Poor, Working Women In High Stress Environments, and Frontline Workers.
A dedicated group of volunteers is central to our ability to deliver mental health resources to the community. Members of the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Student Association of Social Work have been a key participant in our efforts, helping us interact with hundreds of individuals. These young social work students are enthusiastic, engaging, professional, hardworking, and extremely conscientious! SASW volunteers always further our efforts and never disappoint; they will truly transform society as social workers.
On behalf of the members of The Village Committee, and the Junior League of El ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to the women of the SASW who have shared their time and talents with us. We have benefitted immeasurably from them and look forward to many more collaborations together!
With appreciation,
Julie Kallman
