Departmental Core Resources
Our laboratory can have access to all shared equipment in the Department of Kinesiology in the College of Health Sciences/Nursing building at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½. Research environment in our department is designed to support faculties by supporting all shared equipment.
- Cell culture: Cell culture hood, UV light, Cell culture CO2 incubator, hemocytometer, inverted microscope, sonicator
- Gene expression: QuantStudio 7 Flex Real-Time PCR
- Protein quantification: LI-COR Fluorescent Imaging System
- Immunohistochemistry: Leica CM1950 cryostat, humidifying chambers
- Animal exercise training: Exer 3/6 Rodent treadmill
- Other equipment: Microplate spectrophotometer, NanoDropTM spectrophotometer, blood analyzer, 4°C refrigerator, -20°C/-80°C freezers, liquid nitrogen storage tank, fume hood, centrifuges (small and large size tubes), laboratory cold room, dark room, water purification system, etc.
ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Core Facilities
The Border Biomedical Research Center (BBRC) at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ facilitates and expands the pathobiology research at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ by strengthening the research infrastructure. The BBRC supports multi-user research facilities in biochemistry/molecular cell biology, preparatory cell culture, analytical cytology, genomic analysis and statistical consulting.
- Analytical cytology core facility (2,000 sq. ft): Transmission electron microscope, confocal microscope, ultramicrotome with diamond knives, fluorescent microscope with video imaging, etc.
- Genomic analysis core facility (2,600 sq. ft): DNA sequence, microarray analysis, DNA/RNA preparation, qPCR machine, gel documentation, etc.
- Cell culture and screening core facility (2,000 sq. ft): Cell sorting, BD pathway 855 high content bioimager, primary culture, etc.
- Biomolecule analysis core facility: Sequencing and identification of proteins and peptide using LC/MS-MS
- Statistical consulting laboratory: Assistance to biomedical research projects
